Fitting tip: Millenco now send the replacement gearbox with the latch retracted in for safe distribution to stop any damage in transit. At first this will feel that the latch is stuck in place however if you place the door handle into the the top spindle and lift the handle up into the locked position you will find both the latch and centre hook come out and the latch will spring in and out from there on.
This replacement gearbox is found on a number of different UPVC door locks such as Millenco Lockmaster and Securistyle. However, it is made by Paddock Fabrications which is the UK parent company of all these brands.
This lockcase allows you to use a Lever/Lever or a Lever/Pad handle. The pad handle is fitted outside and uses the lower spindle. The lower spindle allows the door lock to be locked and unlocked but will not operate the latch (snek) on the gearbox from outside without turning the key. The internal handle uses the top spindle which operates both the locks and the latch without the need to use the key.
Note: You can, if you wish, use the top spindle only with a matching handle on both sides. Use sprung handles because the lockcase is unsprung.
